With the ever increasing rise in obesity levels in the United States and the world the interest in losing weight has become a hot topic. Finding some good weight loss programs for women over 40 can be a difficult task. As people age their joints and tendons become tough to move. The risk of injury goes up with each passing year. While there are many examples of women over 40 who are in fantastic physical shape those same women have worked very hard to get there.

So then the question is what is the best weight loss program for women over 40? To be completely honest there really is not a standard answer to this. This is because each and everyone are under different individual restrictions. For instance say I recommend a program that is high intensity but you suffer from joint problems such as early onset arthritis, then this could cause severe pain and discomfort. Each person has to be tailoring their exercise program to their own physical abilities and then go from there.

You could go all out and hire a personal trainer, but again that person would have to consider your physical constraints in order to make sure you do not suffer from any injuries. Having an injury is a sure fire way to stop exercising and stop any progress at all. This is why you never want to get an injury. Once you have started to build momentum please do not stop it. Momentum is very hard to build which is why you never want to break any habits you have formed.

Any weight loss program is going to involve some form of diet change. Why I do not necessarily subscribe to any fad diet out there the Primal Blueprint does seem to be very popular. With this diet you will be eating more closely to our ancestors and since the human body has not evolved that much over the several thousand years this diet just makes sense. Many people have experienced significant weight loss with variations of the Primal Blueprint.

Any weight loss program will also need to have some form of variety. If you have multiple exercise DVD’s or tapes then it is important to constantly be mixing them up in order to confuse your body. You really want to use muscle confusion to your advantage here. The more your body feels it needs to adapt the quicker your progress will be.

Incorporating many types of physical exercises that you know you will stick with is vital to keep losing weight. The idea here is just to keep moving. If you keep walking, running, or swimming then your body will naturally burn off the calories. As well you will never be bored with these constant variations of exercise.

Losing weight for women over 40 is just a bit different then when you are younger. However, all you need to keep in mind is what you are capable of doing and to keep things constantly changing. Variety is not only the spice of life but exactly what the body needs.
